Whether on traditional quad skates or inline skates, Artistic (figure) skating offers a wide variety of exciting disciplines.

Freeskating offers fast exciting skating with jumps, spins and footwork all choreographed to music.

Dance provides the excitement of Samba and Cha Cha, the sophistication of the foxtrot or Waltz or the passion of the Tango.

Figures provides us with a demonstration of skill and control.

The Skateaway Artistic Class Program is a program designed for skaters who have completed their 4 star program and would like to continue learning more about Artistic (figure) skating.  This class is open for skaters of all ages.

The program is conducted as three separate discipline classes.  Whilst skaters can choose which classes they wish to undertake, it is highly recommended that all skaters partake in the figure class together with one or two of the additional classes (dance, freeskating).  Skaters would benefit the most from being involved in all three classes.

As part of this program skaters are invited to skate the Saturday Afternoon General Session
(
2 pm - 4.30 pm) FREE OF CHARGE.

There is no regular testing involved in the Development Program and skaters can move towards local Artistic Competitions from these classes if they desire to do so.

Precision Skating is a specialised branch of artistic skating distinct from figures, freeskating, dancing or pairs skating.  It involves a group of twelve or more skaters performing various groups formations and manoeuvres.  "Precision" refers to the importance of unison and the accuracy of its formation and manoeuvres: the state of being precise.  Lines must be straight, heads facing in the same direction, free legs matching the synchronised in time to the music.  This can be quite a challenge for a group of twelve or more skaters.

Mini Precision involves a team of 6 - 8 skaters performing similar elements to full team precision teams.  The objective of mini precision or team precision is to have the skaters performing as one (unison and precision) as opposed to individual soloists.  The emphasis, however, is on enjoyment and participation.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays

For skaters that have completed the Learn to Skate program private lessons are available from one of our accredited coaches.  The lessons are taken outside of class times.   For more information regarding Private lessons or to book private lessons, please refer to our Head Coach, Jodie Johnson-Garufo.
